Different Notifications for different contacts

Hi guys,

I have a Huawei Ascend P6 and my friend who has a different Huawei can set individual ringtones and backgrounds for text conversations, he does this by accessing the physical settings button whilst in a conversation and can access a settings page for the person he is texting. The Ascend P6 doesn't have this button to access the settings in this way as there are only the onscreen buttons. It is the same app so I should be able to do what he is doing.

Any suggestions? And please don't simply suggest changing to Go SMS or something. Cheers guys

In Contacts, edit a contact. There should be a "Ringtone" item. I don't know about any background change - that may be a Huawei thing, not the standard Android Contacts app.

Hi Rukbat, this was my question.

The solution you give changes the ringtone for when that person rings me however I want a different SMS notification sound. I know this can be done in the app as it has been done on the different Huawei phone.

When editing the contact the "message alert" option changes the sms notification.

I see no message alert when editing the contact, here is a screenshot when I edit a contact on the phone. There is also no option if the contact was on the sim

OK, its clearly very different across makes of phone. Now that you have registered - welcome! - I suggest you post your question in the forum for your phone where someone may know the answer.
