Different volumes for different apps??

Is there an app out there that will let me set the music volume lower than the GPS volume.

When I'm using the music player via my car stereo at the same time as navigation the navigation is overpowered by the music.

I have also tried to find a music app that would mute when the navigation sounded but nothing.

Given the way that Android is setup, it'd be difficult to find. It would be possible for a developer to do this, but most of them work with the built in volume control interface.

If you're using the music player via you car stereo why can't you turn down the car stereo's volume?
Actually, when navigating you shouldn't have any music on at all because with music on you cannot concentrate on navigating. ...As you found out.
It's also dangerous.

If I turn the car stereo down then it turns the navigation down, hence the question.

I found this thread looking for answers to the same question, so I guess this is a bump. Also, it's really not unsafe, since the music pauses while the Nav is giving directions. But it's still annoying, since I have to turn up the music louder than I would like it to be able to hear the directions well.

So, does anyone know of a music player that has its own volume control?

Streaming doesn't work for me. My ride to work has a couple spotty reception areas for 3G, plus I have a bunch of songs already on the phone that I want to play. However, I did find a solution.

JetAudio Basic is a free music player that has all sorts of sound controls. It does have a volume control, but that doesn't help, as it only adjusts the system volume. I suspect other music players will do the same. But JetAudio also has a "Preamp" setting that adjust the volume before it goes to the Android system sound player. I was able to lower that volume without affecting the Nav voice, and that's exactly what I wanted.

I also just checked out Tasker. That app does a whole lot of things and I need to explore that one, for more than just sound. So it looks like I've got at least two solutions.
