Root Dinc 2 Rom White Screen after Flashing Issue

alg42

Lurker
I have tried to flash 2 different ICS ROMS, the UKS and the Hawk ones.

I am using clockwork to do the flash after factory data reset, etc.

In both cases, the flashing goes fine and says it is successful, but when I try to reboot, it stays on the white htc screen forever.

To recover, I have to remove the battery and restore my backup.

It's obviously something I'm doing or my phone that is the problem, since 2 different roms shouldn't have the same problem.

Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks,
Alan

I'm having the same problem trying to flash to Incredible HD RLS 1.1. I wiped data/cache/dalvik cache and then ran the super wipe script. Still no luck. How do we install the 4ext recovery?

Also I'm rooted with htc dev since I received the verizon OTA before I realized it was too late :(

oh derppp i was following the thread on xda [GUIDE] Noob's Guide #6: I just HTC Unlocked, what now? and i followed it to where i did clockwork install + super user then install the rom with cwm. Too bad i didn't scroll down and see the part about flashing the boot img...... we'll see how this goes lol

After lots of thrashing around, here's what I finally did to solve the problem. I have done it on both mine and my wifes phones.

It appears that the HTCDevUnlock process screws up a bunch of stuff that otherwise works fine.

I tried the downgrade to 2.3.3 process as posted in these forums, which failed.

I used the HTCSuperTool from the xda forums to relock the phone, then did the downgrade again and it worked fine.

Then I did the revolutionary process to get s-off, followed by the superuser installation, exactly as described elsewhere in these forums.

After that, I flashed the UKB rom and it works great.

I guess the moral of the story is don't take the HTCDevUnlock shortcut to root.

I hope this helps someone.

I used the HTC unlock tool and I have no problem flashing a Rom. You just have to flash the boot.img in fastboot through command prompt on your pc.
