Direct wifi transfer between two Android devices?

AussieGuy

Newbie
I have an old phone, and a new phone, and I want to transfer lots of files (music/video mainly) across. WiFi would seem to be the best option, and I looked at Send Anywhere - a very nice app, but the free version has too many restrictions. So now I'm testing AirDroid, but that means (as far as I can tell) moving files onto my (linux) computer first.

I just want to be able to move files, and entire directories, directly between my phones - both of which are unrooted, by the way.

I suppose I could pay for the full Send Anywhere license... but I'm wondering if there's anything else out there (open source if possible) - which works!

Thanks,
A

I would use an app called FTPServer on your old phone. Then you can use something like AndFTP on your new phone to connect to your old phone and transfer files. You might be able to accomplish this with a file explorer like Astro or ES File Manager.

I don't understand the problem with moving to a PC and then to phone since this is a one time effort. So just connect old phone by USB to PC and transfer then new phone by USB and transfer
