Disable 3g, when screen is off

Hi!

I'm looking for an app, which can turn 3g connection off, when I lock the screen, and turns on, when unlock(best will be optional). I have a 100 mb limited data plan, and have to save every bytes.

don't know if an app like that is available, but i use 3g watchdog in conjunction with the "data switch" widget to manually switch... i would prefer that over what you're asking for anyways, since i get better controls.

If you're looking block data use while the screen is off, Tasker can do that. But you'll need to disable Mobile Data, not just 3G.

By 3G I assume you mean data, not the 3G antenna. That's basically the function of GreenPower and JuiceDefender, and both are free.

What phone do you have? I'm pretty sure my EVO Design does that stock, which is why I ask.

If every byte counts, I would recommend just turning data off completely instead of turning off only 3G. Moving to a slower speed doesn't save you data. It just means webpages will load more slowly, not that less of the page will load.

I think the best thing you can do is use Juice Defender. Its default behavior is to turn data off when the screen is off and then turn data back on when the screen is on. Not only will that save you battery life, but it will also save you data transfer.

The next best thing you can do is use Opera Mini (different from Opera Mobile), which downloads pages on to Opera's servers and then compresses them before sending them to your phone. This also saves on data transfer.

Ohh, thank you for the answers.

Sorry, my english is not the best, and I wasn't obvious.
So I mean turning off the mobile data completely, not just decrease the speed of it.

Tasker is a little bit expensive, but definitely sounds good. Should I have to root the phone to use it?

I think Juice Defender is the simplest way to go, and it has a free version that does exactly what you want.

Juice Defender is a perfect choice, but I tottaly fell in love with the Tasker, after I started to use the trial.
