Android Question

I use Galaxy Note Edge which supports 4G. However, I do not have 4G connection, only 3G. The phone always tries to connects to 4G and keeps switching between 3G and 4G which makes the network intermittent. Is there anyway I can set the phone to connect only to 3G and not to 4G?

Sorry @Jfalls63: Phone didn't show the menu with *#*#4636#*#*

@Bg260: No change with the app provided instructions

I had contacted the service provider as well. Just received a canned response: blah blah. They didn't even understand the problem.

So I am out of luck I guess. I think this is android issue. Is there anyway I can file a bug for them?

What is the complete model number of your phone? Codes should work on most Samsung devices except for Verizon branded, they disable the hidden menu.
I checked the guide in the link with my S5 Active last year and was able to access menu settings.

Or you know, go to settings>mobile networks>network mode>set it to WCDMA/GSM only (that means 3G and 2G only). The other options there would be GSM (2G) only, WCDMA (3G) only, and GSM/WCDMA/LTE (2G/3G/4G).

Those set of settings exist on all Samsung phones and tablets I've used. No need to go through the hassle of doing stuff mentioned above by the others.

Sometimes it's hard to see the obvious. Nice to have more than one set of eyes on a problem.
Good call.
