Help Disable 4G?

My new Verizon Galaxy 3 arrived yesterday and worked great for about half of the day then I started losing data service and would often get a "no SIM" error and have no service at all. Part of the troubleshooting from VZW tech support and from Samsung was to have me disable the 4G to see if I could hold onto a 3G signal. Both tech support reps guided me through the same steps "settings -> wireless and network -> more settings -> mobile networks" and from there I was told there should be an option for "network mode". However, mine does not show that option and the Samsung rep obviously did not believe me that my phone had no such option. Under "mobile networks" the options I have are "use packet data", "global data roaming access", a non-selectable "roaming" indicator and "access point names". Even prior to the issues I tried finding the option to disable 4G to save battery life and could not find it then either.

Is anyone else with a VZW Galaxy 3 showing a menu similar to mine or am I missing something?
