Disable ads without having to pay $15

Hello,

So I just rooted my new Kindle Fire HD and installed the Play Store, but there is still one thing that annoys me: Ads. It's no big deal, but is there a way to disable them?

Thanks. Now do you know how to change the images that appear on the lockscreen? :D

no problem and it has to do with taking the framework-res.apk and locating the images and replacing them and then pushing the framework-res.apk back in the kindle. possibility it will brick your device though. ill link the instructions when i get home on my laptop tonight.

Thanks again. The only thing I need to know now is how to access the root directory from the PC (I can only access the sdcard folder).

good question! seeing as though our kfhd's are android based i would presume that Android Commander will work just the same. i havnt tried it yet so im not sure of the consequences it may or may not have. when i get home from work ill give it a try and update the status.

Hi, I disabled ads on my Kindle Fire HD 7" by uninstalling it in ES File Explorer.
I got the File Explorer on the Kindle App store.
I know this thread is to find out how to disable ads but I actually wanted to know if there was some way to reinstall the special offers. My Kindle actually became a little slower when I press the lock button. I wanted to know if there was some way to reinstall the offers
Can you reinstall it by resetting it to factory settings or updating the kindle software?

Can anyone please let me know? Thanks

I bought my Wife the KFHD 7 and she loves it. The Ads aren't a problem for her. She is a reader first and gamer second. You can disable the recommendations from the bottom of Home Page by going to More > settings > Applications > Amazon Home Recommendations.

As to your question, my experience with other tablets is that the Reset to Factory Defaults uses the data in the system memory to install all the functions and apps/programs which were on the tablet when it was first turned on EXCEPT any system updates will stay keeping the last version not the original version.
