Disable Connection

Does anyone know how to disable the Hand Free Activation on the Sprint HTC Hero? There doesn't appear to be any way to remove the SIM.

I need to disable the connection to Sprint. Can do the data but how is the voice disabled?

Need the WiFi enabled, so airplane mode won't help.

I've spent some time searching here and on google with no results. This isn't a mode that would normally be used.

I did find a fix for this. There's a couple of apps on the market that put the device in airplane mode and allow wifi to be active. Just put "airplane" in the market search and you'll see 'em.
