I use a Palm (really ACCESS) desktop on my PC. To sync my Droid 2 Global with that, I use CompanionLink and DejaOffice. Love it, no problems.
The problem is that the Contacts on the Droid keep populating records and fields with junk data (names, addresses, notes, everything) from somewhere else. I really want to remove this extraneous data and prevent its return. It contains dozens of unrelated data from unrelated contacts into the Contact records. E.g., my wife's record in Droid Contacts has 23 phone numbers, seven or eight names and addresses, etc.
Q: Where is that junk data coming from? What are the consequences of deleting it? (I do use Gmail, FWIW).
I think the culprit is the Droid's Sync Contacts feature.
Q: Is there a way to turn the Contact Sync off, on the phone and/or the PC, and/or a way to keep it out?
All I want to sync is my Gmail, and I have an app on the phone for that. If I do manage to stop the Contact sync, will it affect my Gmail sync?
Many thanks for your help.
