Disable Email and Messaging in JB?

I used to be able to do this in ICS, but I don't seem to be able to since upgrading to JB. (For reference- I have Sprint's version of the GS3). These apps start up on their own and run in the background, which is why I disabled them in the first place since I use 3rd party apps. Any ideas?

Doesn't look like you can now. "Disabled" is greyed out.

On the plus side, its not using any battery if its not configured
