Disable keyboard

Is there a way to disable the keyboard... to keep it form popping up?
When I'm reading a long document and use a stylus to scroll down, the kb often pops up. I'd like to be able to disable it until I need it.

I use an app such as Null Keyboard, but you will need to select this as the Keyboard to use... You can do this in the settings or use another app like Keyboard Switcher to shortcut to the menu!

Some builds of Android have a "turn screen keyboard off" option in the Keyboard Setting menu...
