I use the gmail email app and am unable to disable led light for it, in setting im able to only disable the light for the lg native email app, anyone know how i can achieve this? Thanks

I found this out for you because I haven't been able to get notifications 'to work' for the Gmail app. You have to go into the Gmail settings. So open Gmail; then select Settings; then select your email address; then uncheck the Notifications checkbox.
You might also want to review this other option within Gmail: select Settings; then Label Settings. Check to see if the Label Notifications checkbox is still checked or not after doing the above step.
