Root Disable OTA updates rooted S4

Hello all, I have a rooted S4 running a Deodexed ROM and even after flashing a custom ROM, I still received a system update that I cannot seem to remove from the notification panel nor can I find anything in the system files regarding OTA/FOTA........nothing. I've searched these forums and there are threads on this but they are old and none of the info they state is on my particular phone. Anyone have any luck with this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure what the app would look like on your phone but it's one of the first things I freeze with Titanium Backup. Also not sure if it would help if update already downloaded.

I'll look again at work, i've already installed the initial OS update to Lollipop so not sure what the update actually is. I know it isn't Marshmallow or 5.1 so i'll have to check into it some more.

Probably a security update. If it's already downloaded but not installed, you might be able to boot into recovery and wipe cache partition to get rid of it. Worth a shot.

Tried wiping cache partition and it didn't work so I think I need to find out where the actual file is and handle it from there, just not exactly sure what to look for since it's not an OS update.

Found this doing other research. Shows where OTA files may be found

Yeah I read through that the other day and didn't find anything so i'm thinking about hitting install then pulling the battery so the install will fail. Been reading about lots of other people doing that as sort of a fix.

Wait, is your phone still rooted? Did you do an OTA update to Lollipop?

IF your phone is still rooted, you may want to do a nandroid backup in recovery, before doing this, that is, if you even have a custom recovery installed.

My phone is still rooted and I installed the 5.0 update before all of this so I'm just trying to get rid of the security update that came after I flashed a stock deodexed rom.

Lol, actually have that thread bookmarked for my wife's S3. The files are there but I wouldn't know what to change or what to change to since it's not an OS update and my info is obviously different then the S3 info. Searched for doing the same thing only on an S4 but haven't come up with any other info than what we already have.

Ok so I went ahead and hit install and then pulled the battery once the phone started up and the system started the install, and once I booted up ...........................no more system update notification:) Don't know how long it will last but i'll keep you guys in the loop on what happens. It was the (stage fright) security update fyi.

Yeah so I've tried different roms and the notification still shows up so I have to find exactly where it down loaded to so i can get rid of it that way or trick the system into thinking it's done already.

Ok it's been a while but finally found the update file in the system cache file(it was hidden). So deleted it and restarted the phone and so far no notification [emoji41]. Not sure if it will download again via FOTA but I'll let you know if it does.
