Disable security patch over cell network

Update. I now see this same behaviour with the Play Store. This morning my 5X started downloading app updates even though the store is set to "Do not-auto update apps". I'm on the current beta of 7.1.1.

I turned off auto update for each app individually a long time ago, so I haven't had this happen. But I have read about others seeing this recently - I wonder what's going on?!

I don't know. All this stuff *was* working properly. It doesn't seem like a major bug but it effects enough people so that it rules out anyone's individual device. Strange indeed. After we get the final build I think I'm going to do a hard reset and see how it goes from there.

Just a heads-up: Looks like 7.1.1 is OTA'ing to people now and I got a hit on the help forum that someone got dinged with a 700MB download over LTE. Just putting this out there, but I have no clue what we can do about it!!

Didn't see that problem.

I got the 7.1.1 OTA update just over a week ago. It was optional and after I opted to install, it gave me a warning about the size and suggested it should only be download over WiFi. I was on WiFi so went ahead.

In the past, I have had the issue with apps updating automatically, despite having automatic update turned off. Like PattiCake, I went through the apps individually and turned off auto update for each one. That worked.

FYI, so far I haven't had any issues with 7.1.1. All seems to be working fine. The only real difference I've seen is that, if you long tap some icons on the home screen, you get shortcuts pop up, e.g. create a new contact on Contacts; create a New Reminder or New Event on Calendar; Take a Video or Take a Selfie on Camera. Not even sure if that's an entirely new feature - could have been there for ages without me noticing ;)

The "shortcuts" are a new Nougat feature. They allow you to access a specific function of an app without opening the app.
I just revived the 7.1.1 update as well but I was enrolled in the beta program so the download was much smaller. I was also prompted to download it and as I was home turned on WiFi and installed it. All is good so far.

I caught this on January's update & wanted to verify again for February's before I posted.
I manually checked for February's Security Update over my cell network, it found the update but gave me a download button & a warning that I should download over Wi-Fi. I then turned Wi-Fi on & the update started to download automatically.
