Help Disable volume keys

Hey guys,

This has been bugging me for ages! I hate how the volume rocker keys alter the ringotone on the home screen etc. It hit it a lot and it huggers up the ring volume.

How can I disable it, this is driving me mental. I am don't rooted but struggled to see a mod on xda.

There is an app called Persist in the Play Store. It will allow you to lock those keys as you please.

I had an app similar to his but when you press the key the phone still attempts to change the sound. Which is the bit I really don't like. Lol.

alters the ringtone, as in makes it louder?
isn't that what they are supposed to do?
