Help disabling phone messager

I have go sms installed on my epic but, I get multiples of the messages. I can't seem to set my phone to use go sms and go launcher as my defaults. I love the go sms pop-up but, to send a reply, I need to close the pop-up then go to the sender, open up the sms so that I can use the different features like emojis , attachments , etc. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you !

Have you gone into the settings menu of "go messenger" and changed the setting to default?
