Help Disabling Samsung Apps non rooted phone

jimkirk363

Lurker
I have noticed that my Galaxy G5 900F comes with a lot of stuff that runs in the background that i dont use such as chaton, the remote control app, the voice app etc.

If i go into the app manager and try to disable these apps it asks me to remove the updates for the app, is this safe to do or is there another way to do it?

If i try to go about it by choosing disable\uninstall apps in the apps menu it will only let me disable apps i have downloaded myself.

There are a couple of ways to remove, "bloatware", on an unrooted phone, as shown in #1.9 De-Bloat your phone in S5 Lollipop Update Problems - Dummies Guide. This comes with full instructions and video.

I have asked our friendly Mods to move your post to the Galaxy S5 forum.

Thanks.

Are there any programs known to cause a problem and battery draining i should close and are the any i should stay away and not disable?

Anything that has not been updated for Lollipop... or badly updated. See post #2, here.

and are the any i should stay away and not disable?

As per my #1.9De-Bloat your phone link earlier...

"Warning Some apps are necessary system apps, (usually indicated by a green Android icon), and may not allow you to disable them. System apps sometimes interact with other features of your phone. If you do not know what a particular app does, then Google it first before attempting to disable it. Only a complete moron would disable one of these system apps without knowing what it does and is probably not qualified to own a smartphone!"

another ironass motto... "If in doubt... leave it out!" ;)

I have never once had a problem with the "uninstall of updates" to bloatware.
I click on Turn OFF, it uninstalls the updates, and then I make sure it is OFF.

Well since all the bloatware has been uninstalled, according to GSam i have used 12% in 20hrs and 16 mins and thats with Wifi enabled and accounts syncing in the background while phone automatically goes into power saving at 11pm and comes out at 9am.

That is a good report, and pretty much proves that bad apps are the worst power mongers.
