Disappointed with display

Have had this a day and am thinking of returning. I find the display quite dim even on full brightness and the on screen icons seem very low res. Admittedly I own an S3 and galaxy tab 10.1 whose screens are excellent but I'm finding the nexus 7 not much better than my £50 Huwai phone. I've also had to restart the tab twice within a few hours as the screen became very much unresponsive. Overall not a great experience.

Sounds like you have a problem. Mine has a beautiful display even with a matte finish anti glare protector that does darken the display slightly. My brightness is still only set to about 40%. Return it but get another. You're gonna love this thing!

The display on the 10.1 is quite nice if I recall.
I really think the N7's is great and I rarely turn up the brightness past 40% for my usage. It's nowhere near as bright as my Prime and it's outdoor visibility isn't as good as my wife's Bionic, but I think it's quite superb (especially considering the price).

I found that with the Auto setting for brightness it was always too dim. Turned off the Auto setting and adjusted to about 40% and the display looks great.

Yes Auto Setting keeps it very low at 10% sometimes 25% rarely goes up to 40%. That's why i keep mine @ 40% .

I find the screen brightness quite acceptable, myself.

But, I was kinda disappointed to realize you get robbed of a bit of the screen for the touch buttons. I guess I shouldn't be calling them "buttons"...

Advertised as 800x1280, but you really get 800x1205.
