I'm disappointed that there isn't anything coming to Verizon that dwarfs the current smartphone lineup. If I decide to upgrade before shared data plans are introduced so I can keep my unlimited data for a couple more years, I see nothing considerably better than my Rezound.

I realize we all have different opinions, and that's what makes all of us so great here. However, right now it's just a matter of preference. Razr (of some type), GNEX, Rezound, etc and a few more.

DInc 4G LTE isn't amazing. This post isn't just about complaining, but since I love my phone, all I can do is wait and maybe even upgrade to exactly the same thing and sell one of them. Please, give me hope that something a head and shoulders better will show up to make "upgrade" actually be a valid term for me.

Yes its probably just another moto phone but they are solid phones. when is it coming out? who knows, but im looking forward to it.
 
Weird...most people aren't disappointed that their phone hasn't been dwarfed by a new phone shortly after they buy it.

If you upgraded to a Rezound, wouldn't your contact be up in about 1.5 years? Meaning you'd have to pay an ETF to upgrade to something now? As far as the DInc 4G goes, it's a pretty solid phone minus the screen. Again, that is preference to some people, but I would have liked to see a 1280x720 display on a bigger screen. Other than that, what are you disappointed about? And if we're talking about the Droid Fighter, might as well mention the SIII as well. These are both rumored phones, but it looks like Verizon has a pretty good chance of getting both. Of course, if you aren't impressed by the DInc 4G, you probably won't be impressed by the SIII either.

Haha, the infamous phone envy. I agree with you, it's nice not to have it for once, but I can see the OP's point, it's been ~6 months now since the RAZR, Rezound, and GNex hit, and in his situation, a next gen phone would be nice. Also, even though it will induce phone envy, I'm always FOR manufacturers rolling out the next best thing, just because the advancement in tech is exciting. :D
 
I like the fact that what I have as well as many of us have are still not obsolete, of course. What I mean is, if I really am going to have to upgrade to keep my unlimited data plan, nothing out there feels like an "upgrade".

I bought my Rezound on a ghost line for urgency reasons. The contract I'm on now is up next month. I apologize for the confusion!

Seems like the GSIII probably won't be out by then, and the DInc 4GLTE looks OK, but I don't really want a smaller screen. I want something like a OneX, where it actually bumps things up a few notches.

Motorola phones haven't impressed me much since the OG Droid except the battery in the Maxx. I don't want BSOD or ghosting.

I'm with you -

All Verizon keeps releasing is the Droid RAZR recycled. The Droid RAZR, then the MAXX, then the blue one, the purple one, then the HD coming soon. I mean seriously maybe we want other choices? Did Google buy Verizon too? Sure they will or might get the SGSIII but that is months away at least.

I see you have the Rezound. I'm thinking about getting that coming from the Droid Incredible 2. Do you really love it? I tried running ICS on my Incredible 2 but the camera and camcorder work but not as intended and being I use them a lot, I couldn't really stick with the current crop of ICS roms.
 
If I have to upgrade to keep my unlimited data, and what I get has to last until I either get a phone at full retail price or have another upgrade in two years and go tiered, I'm not getting something that was high end 6 months ago!

If the Verizon SGSIII is not any better than a Verizon SGSII skyrocket would have been or a Gnex, and I have it as an option,I'll get another Rezound, heck I'll go with a fruit phone if I have to! I know everyone would disown me here, but if it had LTE, a bigger screen, and comes out by then why the heck not!

I don't see how you could draw that conclusion as the Dinc 4G and S III are not similiar at all. About the only thing they share in common in a S4 and ICS, however, different speeds, different screens, one is mid level and one is high end. Maybe that would be a fair statement if the Dinc 4G was a version of the One X or even One S, but even HTC and VZW have said its not.

How are their different speeds? They are both powered by an S4 and have a gig of RAM. So in actuality, you're comparing Touchwiz to Sense, rather than the hardware. Because they are both skins, they'll both slow down the phone relatively similar. There are plenty of other similarities between the two, but I'll address the only differences (that I can think of now). Obviously, the Galaxy SIII is a larger phone, with a larger screen. Also, the Galaxy SIII has a 720p display, whereas the Incredible 4G has a qHD display. More importantly, the SIII has a ppi of 306 pixels/in while the Incredible 4G has a ppi of 275 pixels/in. Both are AMOLED displays. The Galaxy SIII has a 2,100 mAh battery, while the Incredible 4G has a 1,700 mAh battery. Also, don't justify you're reasoning by saying one device is mid level and another is upper level. Especially if you're going to say an S4 phone is mid level, you're going to need some solid reasoning to defend that statement.

I think his reasoning is based on the common assumption that if it is not the flagship phone of a line, it is considered a mid-level. The Inc. 4G is loosely related to the One S, and since the One X is the flagship, One S and related are considered mid-level, even though it is better than everything in the previous generation. ;)

This is my point exactly. DInc 4G is almost the same phone as the GSIII, except for a smaller phone, smaller screen/ppi, and smaller battery. Besides that, they are basically the same phone. Granted, I find the GSIII to be a better choice than the DInc 4G, they are still are very similar. If you find the DInc 4G to not be amazing, don't expect the GSIII to be amazing either.
 
So if I don't mind a smaller screen, I would love the Dinc4GLTE as an upgrade from my Rezound, so I can keep unlimited for two more years?

Yeah, as far as the gray area goes about dropping grandfathered users from unlimited data. If I were you, I would wait until the last day (or week, Verizon will be packed on the last day) grandfathered unlimited data ends, and then pick your phone then. You'll have a better selection, and the DInc 4G might also drop in price by then. Also, Verizon made a statement saying you can keep unlimited data as long as you want, but you'll just have to buy your phone off contract. Keep in mind this only applies after they enforce their no grandfathered unlimited data rule, so you can buy a phone on contract now and keep unlimited data.
 
Last year we had a little warning about them no longer offering unlimited data, and I believe July 10th was the cutoff day. I don't see any reason why Verizon would choose the same date this year though. All guesses welcome!

But just like this we knew it was coming so it wasn't a shocker, we just didn't know when.

My guess is we will have about the same amount of notice with this too, should be enough time for you to upgrade if you have one pending. I won't even attempt to guess when it will happen tho as I have no clue ;)
 
Was that straight from Verizon before? If so, since we haven't heard an official date from Verizon, I don't thinks the clock is ticking yet, any thoughts?
 
I believe Droid Life got it from a source at VZW.

The clock is ticking but that doesn't really mean anything other than at some point in the future there will be a change...it may be 3 weeks it may be 3 months time is the unknown variable at this point.
