Help Disaster struck 15 minutes ago.

OMG!OK. It's 1 o'clock and I am at the end of my patience. My husband is, too. He came to me later the day of the 'incident' and apologized for being upset with me. I got really lucky the day I married this man.

So, back to the 'problem at hand'. I have delayed as much as I can stand - the suspense is killing me! And I'd rather not talk about replacements until the verdict is in. Besides, I am rather stuck on the Samsung phones, I like their platform the organization of the programs and the ease of use. Guess I'm set in my ways. Besides I haven't had very good experiences with other brands. But I'll cross that bridge IF I come to it.

I'm still thinking the battery is toast and that I will have to replace that at the least, but I think I can maybe take the phone to either my local Batteries+ store or the AT&T store itself and get them to let me try a new (or at least working) battery just to see if that is the problem or if it's more serious. Maybe they will be nice to me if I bat my eyes and smile?

So, here I am trying to delay some more. I found my computer tools (Yay!) I even have a non-static sheet I saved from my ASUS Motherboard to put my phone on while I work on it. My wrist strap is out and ready. And I'm taking deep, calming breaths.

Any last minute advice before I start?

Update: The back is off and the battery is out (and have been for the last 3 days),I just now removed the screws from the grey plastic interior cover and tried to pull off that cover, but it wont budge. What do I do now? I can't get into the insides to see if there is any more water lurking around in there or if there is any corrosion that I need to try to clean. I am stuck.:confused:

~~~NEW UPDATE!!!!
OMG! I can't believe it! It works! No glitches, fuzziness or anything! The camera works, the speakers work, the browser works, the assistive light works, even my interactive animated wallpaper works! Everything works like it was never dunked! I just cannot believe it!
So, I am going to make a case for it, it won't be waterproof, of course, but it will cushion it and offer some protection. I will tell you how I made it when I'm done and provide a link to pictures.
I want to thank everyone for your help, advice, and good thoughts! You have all been really great!
Lunatic59, I'm don't know about the the Ty-D Bowl Man, But I do have interactive rain and lightening wallpaper on my phone. LOL.
I do have some other questions about about some of the apps that are on my phone that I don't understand or do not want, but can't seem to get rid of. Where should I post those?
That is good news! I had a feeling it would be ok. For questions specific to your phone, post here:
Samsung Galaxy Mega - Android Forums
For non phone-specific topics, post in the Android Lounge
If you ever want to chat about non Android stuff, check out the Lounge and its sub-forums.
Ok. So my Samsung Galaxy Mega is brand new and there are pre-installed apps on it that I do not want and are updating daily using tons of my data! :mad:
What can I do about them? How do I get rid of them? (Samsung Push, Flipboard or Drive, for example).
I got to ask... why spend so much time and cost to make a case.
when you can get one on amazon for less than $10?? and it will look so much better than a homemade one.
What a relief. Glad to hear you are up and running again :D
You had this whole place pulling for you, and its great to hear a positive result.
Result :-)
I don't think I've ever read a forum post that told a story with such skill - even down to the cliffhanger followed by the happy ending. You should consider taking up writing professionally, you're very good at it.
Hi
You should be able to do this:
menu button
system settings
app manager
ALL tab at the top (scroll right)
find the app and select it
press "disable" (if there is an uninstall button it means it has been updated since the factory install, so uninstall back to the factory version, then disable)
This does not free up the memory the app takes up but will stop it from running, updating or using data. Disabled apps are moved to the bottom of the ALL tab list, so if you ever want to re-enable them, thats where they are.
Hope this helps - its the best you can do without rooting your phone.
Roger
Now that your phone is back in action and since you will have more questions about your device, I moved your thread to your device forum so you can carry on with all your questions, cheers ;)
I created a folder named "Crap" and moved them all into that folder :)
Curious, did you ever do any warhammer miniatures?
Wow! You have all been so nice!
Gmash: Thank you and thanks for the hint.
dan330: It smells fine, the water was clean, thankfully! :) As far as the case goes, It has cost me nothing but some of my time. I have used so far: some double layer cardboard from my stash, jersey knit cotton, from my stash, split deer hide (suede), again from my stash, a piece of clear acetate and some Velcro. It's not gorgeous, but it's not ugly and I'm not done with it yet. I am something of a fiber artist, so who knows where this will end up? Besides, I don't have $10 to spare.
Unforgiven: I can't thank you and the rest of the forum enough for your kind support and good thoughts. Your response to my situation was overwhelmingly thoughtful. What a great bunch you have here.
Dpadre: Thanks! I'll look into that bag!
Xpert83: Thank you and everyone for all your positive energy! That is something that I believe in- the power of intention, seen it work too many times to doubt it.
John Bean: Thank you for that lovely compliment! I'm blushing. I do have a book (story, really) that I have been working on for a very long time, though; not consistently. I take it out when I feel the muse, and dust it off write for a bit and put it away again. I have many other hobbies and interests (jewelry making, knitting, RPG terrain building, I read voraciously and as you may have guessed by my username, I am a DM for a D&D game I run) and so, I manage to keep myself busy. I just can't sit with my hands neatly folded in my lap and do nothing! That drives me nuts!
Girolez: Thanks for that tip. I will try it and I'll share that with husband who is having similar problems with his Galaxy S4 mini.
DonB: Thank you for watching out for me. I really do appreciate it.
Once again, a big THANK YOU to everyone here, you are truly a great bunch!
I am sure to have more questions, so you haven't seen the last of me, yet!
Haven't done any Warhammer, yet, mlk2, but that's probably due to the fact that everything I have done to this point has been in 28mm or roughly 1:60. I did recently enter a piece I had done in the World of Craftwars (nice play on words, huh?) at The DM's Craft . I actually came in second place! But all the entries were great! Really tough competition. If you are interested, go take a look see. Mine is called Aelor's Magic Emporium.
Almost done with my case. Working on embellishments and a strap to carry it like a purse. Pics in a few days.
Why I love AT&T. I know that sounds horrible. AT&T is, after all, a multinational conglomerate with it's fingers in a lot of pies, but as a carrier for cell phone service, they have been very good to my husband and I over the past 7 years. They've helped us with payment extensions, lowering our bill while at the same time giving us bonuses and rebates and more minutes and more data. They have nearly always been kind, courteous and helpful. Case in point: today my husband called them because we were having data issues (as in apps that eat too much) and the gentleman who was came ome told my husband about the purpose of a button on our phones that we couldn't find an explanation for anywhere (on the Samsung Galaxies there is a big black button at the bottom on the front of the phone and if you press and hold it a window comes up that shows you all your active apps and gives you the option to turn them off so they won't eat your data), he also set us up with 10GBS more data per month for only $3.00! AND he did it retrograde back to the day we bought these phones, so we wouldn't have to pay any overages! This is normally how they treat us. It is rare when we talk to anyone at AT&T who is pleasant and cooperative. When that does happen, we call back 5-10 minutes later and everything gets fixed.
So, there's my little testimony for AT&T. Our experience with them has normally been very, very good.
