Help display-brightness

Lurker
I have my brightness set on the lowest setting with the automatic unchecked. I sent out about 5 texts and downloaded 1 app on a fully charged phone, and after 3 hours I was at 60%. Yesterday the phone lasted about 8-10 hours and i don't do a whole lot on my phone. Also I have the advanced task killer, everytime i look at an app or message or something....I check the task killer and there are about 8 things running that I didn't turn on. Anyone have any advice, this problem is making me hate a phone that I love!!! I rarely make through a day without my phone dying.

The first thing I would do is get rid of that task killer. You can close all active applications with Android's own task manager which is all you really need. Some applications need to be running in the back ground and by constantly killing them, it actually consumes more battery every time they restart. Some may say different, but I believe task killers do more harm than good. As for screen brightness,I have mine set to auto as I never have battery issues but keeping it to the lowest setting will help with battery life.

Turn off background data and auto syncing. Made a massive difference for me. Turn it on for a period of time when you want to, to update apps etc.

thanks for the help guys.....got a different battery, changed some settings and it made a world of difference!!!! Battery lasts almost 2 days now!! Thanks alot!!!

wow 2 days?! i think my battery may be faulty too then. i am lucky to get over 12 hours with hardly any usage (what i call usage anyway).

i have noticed that some apps, certainly the browser apps, seem to think they are allowed to ignore the screen brightness settings. is there a way to force them to obey the rules?

I think I must have a good battery, I get 48 hours before needing to charge it (15% remaining) and the batt stats show about 7 hours of screen use (my job allows me to read a lot).
I have the brightness turned down, but TBH I think it's more due to the CPU than the screen.
I find when I'm using apps or moving them around or browsing the phone etc it runs the battery down a lot quicker.
