Again please forgive me if this issue was covered in a prior thread... im still new... dont kill me

Ive noticed when I put the Droid to my ear to make a phone call... the screen goes black... then it takes a couple seconds when i pull it away for the screen to re-appear.... How do I stop that from happening?!

That's completely normal. During a phone call, the Droid uses its proximity sensor to detect when it's up to your face so it can 1) save battery life and 2) prevent unnecessary inputs from your face. Your phone is working as designed.

Is there a way to keep the phone from "locking"?

Once the call is over I just want to hit end. Sometimes I need to slide the unlock and then end the call in a 2nd step.
