Help Display problems?

I've had my phone for less than a week and it already started acting up. When i press on the touchscreen (not hard, don't miss interpret it) the display get's distorted. As if the actual touch screen would be touching the LCD display underneath. It didn't do this till today...

What i find odd though it's that this isn't occurring where i'm actually pressing but more like a line in the middle of the screen. I'm worried it might crack or smth

What do you guys think? should i take it to the shop under warranty or is this a Samsung disease? Any of your handsets doing the same?

Anyone of you had any problems with the Carphone Warehouse warranty service?

l.e. here's a link which shows smth similar. Only difference is that the "distortion" in my phone is showing mostly on the center of the screen (like a vertical line of sorts) regardless of where i'm touching it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtxJEmZT76w

Yeah that's definitely a defective LCD. There's a couple problems that may cause it:
1. the digitizer and the screen are too tightly sealed
2. the screen is broken

either case is bad. I'd return it asap before your warranty expires.

well, the phone has 2 years warranty but i'm gonna try to get it exchanged as it is 6 days old. Hopefully they won't object :|

Good luck getting it exchanged!!! Unless the Carphone Warehouse I went to is just a load of rubbish :/

I went to the Carphone Warehouse today and they exchanged the phone :D

Got a brand new one. I didn't even ask for it. I went in, told a guy that i got the phone for one week and it has a problem, showed him the problem and he just said: "oh...never saw that before! Let me give you another one!". I told him got my phone online, but it didn't matter.

Maybe i got lucky, but kudos to the Carphone Warehouse!

Nice! :P

If only all the phone stores were that accepting. I had a hell of a time trying to exchange my phone before.

now i just need to wait for the official froyo update :D

I know my way around installing modified software (owned a SE and a nokia 5230, both customized to the brim  ) but i don't think there's any reason now that we will get froyo from samsung :)

Well actually, a lot of the people who are developing the ROMs are putting custom tweaks into their ROMs that won't be available from Samsung. But who knows. Plus they're using Released Froyo drivers from Samsung, so it's basically better.

well, i'm going to use the original and if it's rubbish (stuff not working/lagging etc) i'm gonna switch to a custom ROM :)

Tbh, i used to tweak my other phones a lot, but never really used the extra functions (cept hacked apps on the Nokia 5230... original symbian doesn't let you install anything you want :P )

Atm, even android 2.1 is enough. I'm not the "install everything you can" type, so i don't even need to move the apps to the SD card :)

Hey, guess what? My mum bought my brother this phone for his birthday. He asked me to do something for him on it about 20mins ago, and I noticed the screen was doing exactly the same thing as the video above. I tried to tell him it may be faulty, so it might need to be taken back. Does he listen? No. Starts yelling at me saying it's fine and he's not taking it back.

I swear when I was 13 I was never like him.
