dissapearing Contacts

Howdy. The contacts on my new Defy keep dissapearing? W385 was the old phone and the contact transfer went well in the store, but after 2 hours they vanished. Returned to the store and transferred again only to have contacts go missing 4hs latter and 300 miles away! Is there a way to stop this as my fingers are not up to the challenge of entering 200 contacts!! Thank's in advance..
