DIY Dock question

So the docks automatically trigger a "docked" mode on the phone. How? If I wanted to build my own dock from wood, legos, etc. what would I need to do in order to make it properly trigger the docked mode on the phone?

you could use an nfc tag and set up a customized dock mode that does everything you want and nothing more or less

It has to be the pin setup in the USB connection. Either two are shorted out, or get voltage they don't get when connected to the PC or just a charge cord. So there are at least four setups, one for desk, car, charge cord, and PC.

It's not magnets, like in some Motorola phones. I've moved magnet around the back and side of the S3 and nothing happened.
