DLNA help

Im able to view photos etc from my phone on my blue ray/surround sound connected to my tv as it has dlna capability. But when viewing pictures im only able to view them by finding the gs3 pictures folder on the blue ray player and not control the viewing from my phone. On my old droid X I was able to share and control what was seen on the tv right from my phone, I didn't have to control it from the media player remote (my droid x had a dedicated/native app called DLNA, maybe that had something to do with it?) Any ideas advice are appreciated.

Edit: I am able to do this with music using the music player on the phone I just tap the little computer/ntwk Symbl and can play whatever I want right to the surround sound, but the picture gallery on the phone doesn't show this option

I have a Panasonic TV and I just controlled my pics and videos off of the phone. No issues. In what manner are you using the DLNA on your phone (how are you accessing it?) I just go into my gallery and start it there.

I have a panasonic TV also. Can you talk a bit more about how to do this and set it up please. I have a Viera plasma from about 2 years ago. Is it compatable?

I don't have any option in the gallery to send it to the TV. My guess is that my TV is not a smart TV, im running the DLNA through the attached DLNA compatible surround sound system...but the music works via control from the phone. And as stated before I could do it this way through my droidX but that did have a dedicated DLNA app.

yes, with ethernet cable. not wirelessly, is that an issue?

Shouldn't be as long as it's on the same network. I go into my gallery view an image then I have a small icon on the top that says "change player" it takes a few seconds for the option to appear.

On your tv remote does it have a Viera tools button? Mine does and I have DLNA option there in that menu. Your tv may not be compatible. What's the model of you Panasonic?

I'll look in Veira tools when I get home and also give you the model number. Maybe something has to be turned on. Thanks for the quick responses! I'll report in about an hour.
