Help DNA Overheating when Charging

About 10 minutes ago I just woke up to my phone baking on my night stand. It felt almost too hot to touch. I had the standard OEM charger plugged into it. The red notification light was blinking, and the battery icon showed that it was charging, but it never went over 82%. Lately I will wake up sometimes and the phone will just be off, and won't turn back on for about 20 minutes and the battery is only at 82%. So my question is, why is it only getting to that certain point then overheating? This is my third DNA and it is getting rather frustrating having to get a new phone every other month. Thanks
