DNA "retired"? One on the way?

Nope. DNA is back in their system. Word is that VZW will get a unique version of the One branded as a Droid sometime in the future once the DNA is ready to be retired. My guess 3rd quarter.

I'd live 2d Q. Like this better that the Galaxy 4 ...

Hopefully it is a slightly modified model that doesn't suffer from the same SIM issues that seem to haunt current Droid DNA users.
If it is, I'll throw my phone at a wall, file an insurance claim, and get a new one LOL. Went through two SIM cards already and the problem persists. It's very on and off though and only seems to go out while I'm at work for some reason.

This was my number one thought as well. Mine happens occasionally, nothing to get to frustrated about, but it seems systemic.

I just got my DNA a week ago to replace an aging Incredible (it's now just an alarm clock and fm radio at work) and I'm happy with it so far. I've only had 1 instance of the sim card issue and I turned it off and back on and it was fine. I did hear some second hand information from a friend and former Verizon employee that left in February (still has plenty of contacts within the company) though. He says the DNA is still in production, but HTC is having supply issues on some components. I was told to expect sometime around late august for a replacement and possible EOL. This would be not that far from what hillmar2k was thinking as well. I wonder though if they would keep it around for a longer period of time the way Samsung has kept the GS2 around?

I see this problem regularly. The saddest part is that even though it is a common, and known, hardware issue I still have to get them to do a factory reset before getting them a new one if it gets too bad or if they don't want to try another SIM card from the store.

Sorry to hear that. This all sounds very similar, lol. Back up the phone, call tech support, factory reset it and the next time you have an issue ask for a CLNR. Good luck.
