Help Do all headsets work with the HTC Droid Incredible?

I was considering purchasing a headset but I'm wondering if they are compatible with the droid incredible. Will most things work with the droid incredible? Is it generic?

The description says it will work with iphone, blackberry, then goes more generic into Music Phones

Tried several and external iHome speaker and they all seem to work fine.

Sorry, I meant will the controls/mic work with it. I'm sure most simple audio 3.5mm will work with the Droid, but will a headset's mic and controls work with the droid? Play/pause, forward, rewind, answer/end call.
