Root do i need a computer to root?

I'm so excitied to root my phone but I'm holding off cuz I dnt kno if I need a computer. Do I? I mean I have one but no internet cuz I jus use my g1. Help

Nope. Check out the tutorials and you can pretty much download everything to your phone, from your phone. It IS easier to do it with a computer, but is possible with just the phone.

The computer wasn't much help when I did mine, aside from its larger screen to read the guide as I went.

how did you guys bypass the need for a computer after you partitioned your SD card and needed to put a new ROM on your phone? did you allready have the rom image on your computer and transfer it over to your phone after the partitioning via usb, or did you flash the ROM first and then partition your SD card?

You can download a file explorer program like "linda" and save a rom image to the storage card fairly straight forward. Then when you go into your recovery mode just select the zip from storage card.
