I really like the sound of what the nexus 7 offers but I don't known what to do . I have a kindle fire that is rooted running CM9 and I have the new galaxy sIII. So I am torn pleas help.

Haha, I don't think anyone NEEDS the tablet, but I know I sure want it. :D

It's much better than the fire

It doesn't really offer anything over the S3 other than a bigger screen.

If I had a Fire I probably wouldn't have pulled the trigger on this myself (I know one is listed under my devices, but that is my wife's). That being said, I had no tablet, so comparing a KF with the N7 the N7 is a clear winner. It would still be a significant upgrade for you being that it has more memory (1GB vs 500MB) and a quad core processor.

I hope that helps.

I guess it depends on (a) what you already have and (b) whether your are a compulsive gadget freak :D

(a) An HTC HD2 (WM6.5 but considering Andoidifying it), a TF101 plus other Dell Windows stuff

(b) That'll be me then :o

I bought my N7 because I wanted it but convinced myself (and Mrs Viffer) that I needed something smaller than the TF101 to fit in my motorbike luggage.

It kind of depends on your disposable income.

I mean, you could probably sell the Fire for $100 if it's in good shape, which means the N7 will only cost you $100 - and it's a significantly better tablet.

But if you have to think hard about what $100 will buy you, the Fire will receive CM10, so you'll get Jelly Bean, and JB will make your tablet seem brand new again.

I didn't need it but I'm so glad I got it. I had a rooted Nook Color running CM7.2. It was so slow I gave up surfing the net and just used it for reading. My N7 is a pleasure to use for the internet. It's as fast as my laptop and I'm using it a lot more than my laptop, and I can take it with me to the bathroom! :D

You should also factor in the $25 Play credit for buying the N7 and the $10 Play credit for setting up Wallet, so it is really only $165.

If you were otherwise planning on spending $25 in the Play store - if not, it's not a "discount" - just a bonus.

Also, the credit for setting up Wallet can only be used with the Wallet app, I believe, so you need to have a place nearby that accepts NFC payments.

Just saying that these things aren't necessarily flat discounts to the price of the tablet.

Either sell the kindle, and then buy the nexus 7.

Or do what I'm gonna do, and wait for the nexus 10 to come out whenever that is. I have the galaxy note, so there really isnt that much difference between that and the nexus 7 to justify buying it. Whereas a 10inch tablet to use around the house would be perfect for me.

If I had known this was coming out at Mother's Day I definitely would have gotten this for my wife over the Kindle Fire we got. I am SERIOUSLY considering selling off my iPad 2 and getting this.

I would live to sell the fire but the wife would hurt me as for it was a gift. I could pass it off the the kids. I also thought about a Touchpad (for the bigger screen) running CM9. Jelly Bean it's almost pointless the the Fire as for it has no camera or mic so the google now feature won't work. I tried the early build of Jelly Bean on the Fire it worked ok for it being an early build. I guess i need to think about how i will use the camera and google now features also the $25 Play Store credit is nice and the Google Wallet credit is as well. As for me having the Galaxy SIII I love the phone but hate Svoice (can't wait for Jelly Bean) well that is another forum. Thank you all for the replies.
