Hi there when I have do not disturb on and on total silence I still get sound coming through on certain apps like YouTube ect but then sometimes I don't. Is this a bug of some sort?

Do Not Disturb means no calls (and possibly texts, I'm not sure) come through. I think what you are looking for is "Silent". Although I'm not sure if that silences the media volume too, probably not unless you specifically turn the media volume down, probably device specific.
