Do reminders work like on a computer?

I'm looking for a calendar app for my android that will pop up reminders onto my screen and leave them there until I dismiss them or snooze / pause them. Just like Outlook does on a computer. Does the outlook app work this way? If not, can someone suggest an app that will actually keep a window on my phone screen until I decide to do something with it. Or do phones not work that way? Things that popup and disappear or show up as a tiny eency weency little icon in the top bar are useless to me.

There are plenty of calendar apps that do repeating alerts (so you get a popup but it will repeat every minute). I'm currently using aCalendar+ this way, I know Business Calendar 2 does it too. Nine (purely a paid app, has a trial period but no free version) has a "persistent alert" setting, i.e. continues to make a sound until you dismiss it. I can't answer for the Outlook app because I don't use it myself.

I used to use an app called "Calendar Snooze" for this, which was perfect for me: full-screen alerts, flexible snooze options, everything my old Palm devices gave me, and would handle the notifications whichever calendar app I used (allowing me to try different calendar apps without compromising on the notifications). Unfortunately it's no longer supported: if you have an old enough phone it may still work, but if you are on Android 9 or 10 you are probably out of luck. But maybe there will be a "similar app" in the play store that does something similar (the alternative I'd tried a year ago no longer exists, so there isn't one I can recommend from experience).

For a Calendar app I use Jorte. That doesn't quite solve the alarm issues though, for which I've been using Calendar Notifications.

OK, either I'm not explaining myself right, you guys aren't understanding or the apps you mention have settings I can't find. I tried both aCalendar + and Business Calendar 2. I created an event on the calendar, set the reminder for 15 minutes and then waited for the alarm to go off. It did. In both cases it "flashed" on the screen for let's say 15 seconds, then an icon appeared on the top bar of my phone and nothing after that. It didn't pop up every minutes and it doesn't stay on the screen. What am I missing? Is there a setting I need to turn on that makes the message reappear every minute? If so, can you tell me where it is and what it's called? I looked at every menu of options and nothing popped out at me.

In aCalendar's settings, choose Notifications and then Events. At the bottom you'll find "Re-Notify". That's where you set the frequency with which the notification repeats.

In Business Calendar 2's settings choose Reminder and then General, and look for "Repetition Interval" and "Max repetitions" (you can't set that to more than 50 repeats, but I don't think I've ever managed to miss 50 repetitions).

Thanks Back to square 1. aCalendar + only repeats up to 5 times. Bus Cal 2 now has the repetition set for the paid version.

If anyone knows of an app where the notification doesn't disappear from the screen until the user interacts with it in some way, please let me know.

Try the Calendar Notifications app mentioned in post #5. As noted in post #6 it doesn't seem to be in the Play Store any more but can be found in F-Droid. I did try it, and seem to remember it being similar to Calendar Snooze, but didn't suggest it myself because I noticed it wasn't in the Play Store and didn't think to check F-Droid until reminded by @doniago.

Edit: Hmm, maybe memory can be deceptive: I've installed it and not found a full-screen option yet.
