Do some browsers drain the battery faster?

I just had a HORRIBLE browsing experience.

I went to sleep last night, disabled data connectivity and enabled airplane mode. Battery was at 41%.

Woke up 8 hours later, battery % was unchanged. I started browsing on Dolphin, phone set to cdma only with screen at 5% brightness.

In 10 minutes I was at 33%. In another 10 I was at 24%. When my phone shut off (I had no charger), I had been browsing for only AN HOUR AND 12 MINUTES and went through 41%!

Un-be-fricken-lievable.

I was running no other apps to my knowledge, and upon checking it said that Dolphin had used 12% battery, in 3rd place after Screen and Android Os (the usual top two).

So my questions are do some browsers drain the battery faster? Or, after 7 months, so I need a new one? Would it still be under warranty? It's the same battery that came with my phone.

I might add that I was browsing from home, where I've used this phone for the last 7 months with no problems, so I doubt it's a signal strength issue.

Android OS is also the 2nd highest battery use here and that just shouldn't be that means there is a major bug. I hate this phone so bad I just want to smash it with a hammer once I've got enough cash to free myself from this prison of terrible phoneville

I also get terrible usage from this phone battery wise. I have the 3600ma extended batt and still don't get very good mileage out of it. Right after charging to 100% I'll unplug it and check a coupla things and it goes down to 93% within three or four minutes. The only time I seem to get decent use is when it has dropped down to around 35-30% and then it will take its time to slowly use up battery juice.

I've tried all kinds of set ups and differant battery savers but nothing works like they say it does. This phone just isn't very good at using its battery.
