Root Do we have bootloader unlock?

I'm late to this device, but it looks quite awesome. Did some quick searchy for bootloader unlock (a BIG per-requisite for me) and found this:

The Verizon M8 does not have an unlocked bootloader yet. Verizon continues to block HTCdev from all of their HTC devices.

It does have root via Weaksauce:

Bummer about VZW blocking HTCDev. I refuse to own a phone without the ability to unlock the bootloader.

IMHO root is useless without the ability to to flash a true custom recovery to create and restore from actual nandroids outside of the /system partition, which is where the bootstrap/safestrap 'recoveries' usually reside.

unlocked bootloader + custom recovery = virtually unbrickable device

locked bootloader + safestrap type recovery = no safe haven

VZW One M8 has S-off. It's been done, just a matter of time until it's released for the masses.

Once S-off, you're in like Flynn!!

same here... and thats a big reason i left big red. a close second to needing my bill to be cheaper

plus i have phone ADD so gsm gives me greater freedom to change them around like most folks change their socks

Unfortunately the GSM carriers mostly cater to the big cities and leave the wide open spaces alone. I'm mostly a country boy, not city folk, lol.

Ahh yes, after more reading, I now see that s-off is as good or better than an unlockable bootloader on a HTC device.

I'll give you that. Vzw undoubtedly has the best coverage once you start getting out of the city. I currently live in a refarmed area,and have LTE just about everywhere I go with t mobile.

Id like to be a country boy,lol... I've got big toys I don't have room for. Would be nice to be further from neighbors and have some.space

Yeah,HTC gives limited access with their official unlock,is not like other devices where an unlocked bootloader gives you access to everything. An unlocked s on phone is better than nothing,but still doing plenty of security checks.
