Do you leave your camera res maxed?

rsarno

Thank Me, Im Irish!
Wondering if highest res is the best option, has anyone tried out various settings to see if there is any noticeable quality degradation or performance changes?

Also kills me to have photos of that size. I take a LOT of photos. And while i often empty the SDCard, i have them backing up to Dropbox and my own personal backups ... all of which will surely run out of space if i keep this up lol

Depends on what you are using them for. I always like to have the max number of megapixels so I can crop or blow up the image. If your main purpose is to post them to social media or other relatively low rez items, then go ahead and reduce the rez. In those types of use, you most likely won't notice any reduction in image quality and you'll have a smaller file.

Yeah, sometimes I just don't want a wide screen shot so I'll go down to the 12 MP 4:3 setting. If you're going to make prints, this is the best setting.

I just today set the default camera to the next lowest setting. Why?
Because I was having trouble using Mobile Deposit to my bank.

The bank's app was crashing when the camera closed while at 16 megaPixels.

I also have Google's Panaramic camera at max res, and FV-5 Camera at max res.

The latter two cameras offer features the default camera does not.

Worthwhile having more tools in your bag to use.
