Do you think the Mytouch 4G will recieve honeycomb update?

I know I'm going way far, since gingerbread isn't even out yet for the mt4g. But just curious, I'm really liking the new android music player. So yeah... What do you guys think?

Doubt it. T-Mobile will probably play the same trick where they would release a MT4G Slide, then update the MT4G a month later and suddenly release a new beast.

2.3 is likely - 3.0 almost certainly not as it will be used as a feature differentiater for new hardware.

The chances of devices like the mytouch 4G getting quick updates is usually pretty low. This is a feature phone, so a different amount of work needs to go into it. When Google drops the updates, they don't drop a vanilla and an HTC Sense. It's just vanilla and will get suited to vanilla devices. Most likely, the Mytouch 4G will stay at 2.2.1 for a very long time. This is just my 2 pennies based on looking at past feature phones. If you want the newest updates, your best bet is to root your device if you don't mind voiding your warranty a bit :)

I recently got a T-Mobile Mytouch 4g slide with 2.2 firmware and so far it has automatically upgraded twice to 2.3.4. While I too don't know if Honeycomb will become available I hope the recent upgrades are a sign of good things to come. Either way, the Mytouch 4g slide is a hell of a nice phone. Does anyone have information on how to properly root this phone?
