.doc to .pdf

Are there any apps that can convert office type file formats to pdf?

Ideally it would be able to do it from email attachments too.

Plenty of pdf readers out there but I really need something that can create them without leaving a "created by..." stamp on the pdf.

Thanks

You can do it on a PC using Open Office, free. It's word processor can read (and write) Microsoft Office ".doc" files and there's a menu option to "Export as PDF".

Not an android application, I know, but a solution nevertheless if you mount your phone as a disk drive and use your PC to do the actual conversion part.

I use open office at home already and it works really well.

The reason I'm after this is because at work I often have to produce training and reference documents which need to be in pdf format - but my company won't pay for Adobe writer or, due to confidentiality rules, allow me to use a web based converter.

The only solution I can think of is mailing them to my phone then converting them. Can't use team viewer suggested above because it requires an installation which I can't do on my company LAN.

Unless there is another way to remotely control my pc over the mobile network from my phone to get my pc to do it?

my android can't read .doc and .pdf
any suggestion?
can I use Quickoffice like in Nokia and Sony Ericsson phone?
I've download Quickoffice on PC, but I still can't open .doc and .pdf

You could ask your company's IT department to install OpenOffice on at least one computer at work - if their reasoning for not installing Adobe Writer was that it costs, well, Open Office is free. Then use that at work to convert your documents.

Or if you are allowed to take your work home, then don't bother with Teamviewer because you already have OpenOffice and can use that already. At the very least, you might be allowed to transfer the documents via a USB stick to prevent them going over the internet, but mail them if you can of course.

@insynaf: My HTC Desire runs QuickOffice, and the pre-installed PDF viewer works fine. As for your PC, you can download Adobe's free "Reader" to read PDFs on that, and as I said above, OpenOffice will read ".doc" files.

So don't install (free) Teamviewer on your company's LAN, but install it on your PC or Mac at home. And on your phone of course. Then mail the .doc from your work PC or Mac to your home PC or Mac, use Teamviewer to convert it there to PDF, and mail that PDF back to your email address at work.

Tada! :D

Brilliant! Just installed it and had a go over my own WiFI network and it was great. Will have to see how well it works over a 3G connection! Can be fiddly but being able to control my PC as if I was there is awesome!

Our work PCs have their USB ports locked down and often I need the document converting quickly so emailing it, waiting till I get home then converting and sending back isn't an option.

I wish they would install Open Office on all our PCs, let alone one, but being a big blue chip company we have contracts to keep and not likely to upgrade anything any time soon. Like a lot of companies (particularly here in the UK) we are still using IE6!
