Help Document scanning and editing questions

My father wrote a manuscript of his experience as a P.O.W. during WW2 using a typewriter. Does anyone know of a good app that I can use to scannot and edit it and save it to Word format?

You can't edit a scanned document. Not even actual scanners used by PCs can do that. They scan to a PDFimage or picture file, and those can't be edited or converted to Word. You'd have to transcribe it out yourself to Word.

There are OCR scanner apps available. Think you'll have to try some. Although document scanning is probably better done with a proper document scanner and a computer, than using a phone camera.

How well OCR works all depends on the clarity of the documents, typeface, etc.
