I must say the iphone has been better in the past when it comes to 3g.
I don't think there is a problem, in my case its the same as its always been on O2.

If the OP is some where where O2 only have a 3G signal then having an LTE phone isn't likely to help. Is it?
Especially as 4G/LTE is only on EE and only in certain cities at the moment.

FWIW, my my T-Mobile (USA) branded Motorola Defy has a consistent 10-15dBm better signal on 3G, on both at&t and T-Mo (supports 3G on both networks), than both my LTE Note and Note 2 on their respective networks. I would think that with such a large device, reception would not be an issue. This in an area near Washington, DC, where I was able to acheive 53Mbs "speedtest".
