Does anyone actually use face unlock?

Just curious if anyone actually uses this in real life. When I got my Galaxy Nexus I thought this was the coolest thing ever. Then the novelty wore off.

Anyone?

Yes, no one can copy your face. :)

photo? camera? print? done!

i tried the feature.. it was cool for about 15 mins.
then it angle of camera was an issue.
then not enough light..
done.. back to pattern lock.

my table never really goes out.. just home and office.
thinking.. why do i need to lock this thing??

(have not tried this out yet :p )
what about just holding my phone with pic on screen of person up to it?

well having a face recognition + password helps if u lose your device
it won't let the stealer or finder navigate through your personal data
or accounts.
Now in topic, I used it but it was only to check since it's not really safe!
especially if you have a twin brother haha!

just for reference there is an option to disregard a face that doesnt blink its in security somewhere ,this stops use of photos lol

very interesting..

but then it just makes you look at the camera just a little longer..
and editing a photo to make it blink.. aint hard on a phone-type device

the blink detection (imo) sucks! i could never get it to work right. i dont need security on mine so a stock lockscreen will suffice :)

For those of you discussing the security of face unlock...

Its not secure at all. A guy with ms paint or the free gimp photo editing program can get through your faceunlock with pretty much any facebook (or any other) photo of you.

The blink "security"? Simply paint over the eyes in the persons skin tone and flip between the two images. There were videos all over youtube of this weeks after the feature was released.

If you want security, use a pin and keep usb debugging off

I've never used it, and probably never will. Face recognition is really just a gimmicky feature. IGN made a video when ICS first came out showing not only photos being accepted, but people who just had a similar face/glasses as well. This type of feature would be more useful on a device with many users to change profiles.

i have heard.. rumors...
that the iphone 6.. screen will be able to read finger prints.

lock and unlock with your print.

thinking ahead... and................
if stolen/lost... log who is using your phone.

I've been using the last few days on both my N7 and Gnex. Could be my imagination but it seems to be work better than it did originally on the Gnex.

People in public, particularly the i-sheep are still completely blown away by it. "You can unlock your phone with your face?"

Maybe nostalgia on my part, but still a pretty cool feature in my opinion.

since i am not involved in espionage, i do not expect someone to steal my nex7 and use photos to get through photo recog.
the fear is a lost device and the stranger getting access to data saved on it.
face recog, in normal lighting works fine and quick. an in and out move of the 7 gets fast unlock.
and if their is bad lighting, the number code pops up

I don't think anyone is storing anything that would threaten national security ;):p

The point is, face unlock isnt secure if someone who knows you or has seen you with it has your device. As a result, that data isn't secure.

A stranger won't know what you look like, so there's less chance of using random photos successfully.

I use it on both my N7 and GN. I do a multiple set of pictures so now it does a good job recognizing. Even in low light it works like my living room with the lights out because I have a photo taken of that situation.

Why I use it because I have it synced to my car to play music over bluetooth. Every so often I may need to change something on it but I'm not going to fiddle with it while I'm driving. I hold the phone up without looking at it because thats the photo that I have set in my car and it will unlock. Then I use voice commands to change whatever I am changing or to voice text messages.

Ditto when I'm heading to the coffee shop, I unlock the phone without being one of those with my head down and colliding with the person in front of me. When unlocked, I launch google wallet with voice. My "barrista" is quick with my order. I'm a regular. When they see me coming in they start punching in my regular order and I pay as soon as I walk up to the counter. I was their first google wallet user and since then they know me.

Yes I used face unlock feature for the main account, it works pretty good.

Don't use it if you have a twin brother / sister.
