Take DELL XPS 13 (2015) laptop as an example. The Low res (1920x1080) version of the laptop can run for over 12 hours on battery. While the high res (3200x1800) version can only last for 7 hours. The two models are otherwise almost identical as they share the same Screen Size, CPU, GPU and OS.

The high res screen caused shorter battery life mainly due to:
- 3200x1800 has 2.7 times more pixel than 1920x1080. More pixels means more calculations for CPU and GPU. Thus more power draws.
- more pixels takes more power to render on the screen.
