Does backup save sms

Which stock backup/restore? Stuff like that may vary between phones.

I'd use an SMS backup app to be safe if the messages are important to you.

I see two phones listed under your profile OP. Which one are you referring to for "stock"?

Hadron/RyanB

Now installed SMS Backup & Restore with a 7 day schedule backup period. Will see if that works.

No it doesn't. You will need to download an sms back-up application. It only backs-up pics, contacts and other files but not sms/text.
