Does camera app depend on hardware only?

Hi everyone
The camera on my Arnova 10dG3 produces poor quality shots. Is this a function of the hardware or would trying out other camera apps help in getting better quality? If the latter then any recommendations?
Cheers Steve

You can try different apps, sometimes they do make a difference, but if the camera is below par, the app is only going to be able to mask so much.

I used Camera Zoom FX on an older handset and it gave better shots than the stock app. If you want something free to try, give Camera 360 a go.

Yeah, it's cheepo! I got it to be a media server and because it has an HDMI port. It does the serving fine and the hdmi gives good quality on the big screen. I really wish I'd paid the extra for a better camera though, or, better a front and a rear camera.

Any recommendations for a dual camera 10" with hdmi that works with the BubbleuPnP server? I'm a Linux user so hacking around in Android is fine if necessary.
Cheers
