Help Does Galaxy Ace charge from computer USB?

Well I went ahead and ordered a Galaxy Ace S5830L from Amazon. I'll find out when it arrives, but I'm curious so I'll ask. Can the SGA be charged via the cable connection to the USB port to a notebook computer?

I was thinking of getting a power adapter for it to charge it in the car. But I have a notebook that's powered via an auto adapter adapter, and was wondering if all I needed to do to charge the SGA would be to plug it into the notebook's USB port. ....t

Thanks for the input karandpr... one thing less to buy and have to toke around. :) Eager to start playing with it.

Hi, I'm no expert, but every forum says not to rely on the USB cable to charge the Ace! It will not fully charge it, even though it may say it has & can actually damage or shorten the life of the battery. I guess once in a while as a back-up is O.K., but the Ace should be fully charged using the (supplied) mains charger. Anybody else got an opinion...........?? Graham :)

You can charge the phone by connecting it to the notebook, but indeed: it isn't reliable. Recently I noticed something strange after connecting my phone to my notebook for storage: after connecting for about 5 minutes only, my phone battery seemed to have charged from 19% to 56% (which is impossible of course). So don't use it as a standard method.
