Does my phone use data when on wifi?

I have a Samsung galaxy and my son plays games on it. Does it use my data (limited) if he is on wifi?
 
If the phone's data connection is turned off, it uses data on wifi, not on your phone connection (the kind you're paying for). But if data is still enabled, it could still be using "paid-for" data. Use Data On-Off (free at the Play store) to turn data off when you want to be sure it won't be used.
