Help Does rooting a phone cause phone problems?

So i want to install Roam control (to force me Samsung epic 4g touch to roam) but it requires rooting. Does this make phone glitches/problems if i do?
 
I've never had a problem with my rooted phones. However, keep in mind that when you root, you will no longer be able to get OTA updates from Sprint and/or Samsung... including Ice Cream Sandwich when it is released. You'll have to wipe your phone and flash a new ROM for every update.

PS. Also, if you roam too much... they'll terminate your service. Just an FYI.
