does rooting phone improve battery??

johkool

Lurker
i tried using launcher pro for about 5 minutes to see if i preferred it for the screen look basically (and i didnt) - just occured to me to ask if it may help extend the battery in any way??

as far as i know, not really. if you look at your battery drain charts, the biggest usually is your screen, followed by applications such as games (processor and screen drain), then stuff like media, and most of the time for me, hammering the HSDPA connection streaming for stuff. Wi-fi doesnt use that much for me unlike the old days of the HTC TyTn winmo models. oh GPS is a killer too. so if you have stuff pushing and pulling data every 10mins then with the above....not even another launcher is going to help. Andy OS usually takes only 4-5% of my battery life during the day anyways.

im in the mentality with phones as i am with cars really. ppl say they need more battery to cope with more power requirements of new tech thats on phones. but as with cars: less weight = less power required = less engine size = less weight.
with phones: more efficient components = less power required = smaller batteries needed to do the same thing/or keep the same size battery for even loger life

Take off anything to do with HTC Sync, and your phone will last for ages. I just wish HTC fixes there HTC Sync and HTCSense.com to the point where it at least works.. LOL

ah. yeah ive had the phone freeze and force close and/or restart a few times....it that whats a bit dodgy huh? makes sense LOL . I have the sync turned off for the calendar otherwise the bloody thing wont even load/work!
Everything else is set for every few hours i think. Ive finally worked out how to add a data on/off toggle,so internet is off unless im out of the house. does it only sync when i turn it back on then?? i dont think i even need to use the wifi so thats off too.
