Does rooting unlock bootloader

Hi i am planning on rooting my transformer prime an i was wondering when i root it does that unlock my boot loader an can i still receive OTA update?

No, rooting and unlocking the bootloader are two separate things. However, if you are on the .21 update, there is currently no way to root without unlocking the bootloader and flashing a pre-rooted ROM.

If you are on an earlier firmware version, I'd suggest Sparkyroot:
[TOOL][APK ROOT]SparkyRoot apk root method - xda-developers
Then install OTA Rootkeeper from the Market and run it prior to taking the .21 update.

i saved my root by using ota root keeper im on the .21 update bout have not unlocked my device yet lol.

i have to wait untill they find a method to root .21 hope it takes less than a week. cant stand running stock. i need a rom

Rooting won't give you the ability to put a ROM on. You have to unlock the bootloader for that.
